Today’s tout services and sports picks shows online and social media owe their existence to the early show creators and producers who pioneered the genre back in the 1980s. And no one is better at telling how it all started than executive producer Dennis Tobler, whom I interviewed last night on this topic. He appeared in and produced some of the earliest shows in the late 1980s and continued making them in the 1990s and early 2000s.
