Jul.02.16. Jim Bobbera recounts his days at the Stardust with Lefty Rosenthal
Not a lot of people can claim working with Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal during the glory days of the Stardust Casino like Jim Bobbera can. From 1968 till 2014, Mr. Bobbera was a fixture of Las Vegas’ marquee casinos from the Stardust, Dunes and Tropicana, to name a few, where he worked as casino host and manager. At the Stardust, he rubbed shoulders with flambouyant entertainment director Lefty Rosenthal during the period when Lefty set up its groundbreaking race and sports book and hosted “The Frank Rosenthal (tv) Show”. Jim’s recollection of old time Las Vegas and his anecdotes of Lefty are both amusing as they are historically significant, reviving the faint memory of a once glamorous, star-studded town. Jim’s wife, Delena, also chimed in with her share of Las Vegas stories highlighted by her fascination with Frank Sinatra and classic Vegas entertainment.
We thank Jim and Delena for sharing their stories with us for this documentary.
